Here We Grow Again…
If you’ve stopped by the clinic this year, you may have noticed that we’ve
undergone some expansion and construction.

We just completed and
moved into our
new front office which boasts a large waiting room and ample workspace for our office staff. |
Other new additions include... |
A new barn complex which includes three
outpatient/broodmare stalls. |
A Farrier’s room ~
Clients are welcome to bring their farriers to our clinic and use the
facility and inventory of shoes we have available. |
A climate-controlled isolation stall for
critical care patients requiring constant monitoring. |
Our original main facility incorporates... |

A four stall clinic with examination area. Open space
is available for x-rays, ultrasound and vet/farrier teamwork on horses
with foot problems. |
The attached clinic/stall area provides stalls used for
illnesses that can be treated medically, injuries and mares to be bred
with fresh or frozen semen. Windows from the main office allow additional
monitoring capabilities. |
The treatment area contains a stock used for standing
surgeries and breeding. MEVA also provides
frozen semen storage housed in the clinic. |

Our laboratory provides rapid in-house blood chemistry, electrolytes,
CBC, culture and cytology results. |
There is an outdoor ring for lameness and pre-purchase
examinations. |

"Before
purchasing a new horse, whether it be for pleasure riding or
upper level competition, it's overall health and condition should be
thoroughly investigated.
A complete physical exam, soundness evaluation,
radiology, blood work and drug screening can be performed"
--Peter J. O'Halloran, DVM |

"Lameness exams require close observation of the horse in hand and
under tack.
Diagnostic nerve and or joint blocks may be done
followed by a radiographic exam and analysis.
Digital radiographs provide immediate high quality
images."
--Richard J. Forfa, DVM, Dip. A.B.V.P. |
 "Complementary
therapies offered at Monocacy Equine include spinal manipulative
therapy (chiropractic), acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine.
They can be used alone or in addition to western
medicine when treating many debilitating conditions including neck and
back stiffness/pain, muscle spasms, jaw/TMJ pain, gastrointestinal
disorders, and a variety of lameness issues."
--Lisa Jeanes-Wagner, DVM, Dip. A.C.V.I.M. |
