The main clinic barn at Monocacy Equine is connected to the office, the laboratory, the pharmacy and the doctors’ offices. It provides an exam area complete with a stock and work area. The clinic provides an excellent facility for lameness workups – it has level flooring and also has four critical care stalls for medical cases. We can accommodate most minor standing surgeries and a number of foal surgeries. Laser surgeries are often performed in the clinic by an outside consulting veterinarian.
The main clinic can be monitored through connecting observation windows enabling the staff to keep an eye on all in-patient horses. An annex to the main clinic has four stalls. Three regular stalls can accommodate out-patient horses and mares who are admitted for breeding – there is also an isolation stall for critical cases. All the stalls are deeply bedded with shavings or straw.
We also have an all weather arena with sand, bluestone and rubber footing, 80 x 120 meters in size which is perfect for performing lameness exams.
